Education Key to US' Economic Rise or its Decline

To get the US economy going Americans need to earn higher degrees. Currently the US economy does not have an engine for growth. It is most likely will be in a field that requires a graduate degree. Science and technology fields have the most room for growth and will be the best bet to keep the US as an economic power. The recent bubble in real state and construction along with the US losing its manufacturing base to other countries, it shows an astounding loss of demand for low end work for workers with little or no college degrees. With the US exchange rate as it its the US may have a hard time to increase its exports in the next couple of years. Unless a change in our energy policy occurs oil will continue to adversely affect our trade imbalance for years to come. To remain competitive the US needs to regain its lead in R&D and start building tomorrow's technology today. Any substantial advancement in our economy will be done by people with advanced degrees.

The policy initiatives the government needs to take is to make college affordable and grad school attainable. Math and science need to be promoted...
